Tips for Parents on Bullying

If your child bullies others:

  • Make it clear to your child that you take bullying seriously and it is not okay.
  • Share your concerns with your child's teacher, counselor, and/or principal. Work together to send a clear message that bullying is unacceptable.

If your child witnesses bullying:

  • Teach your child how to get help without getting hurt.
  • Tell your child not to cheer or even watch quietly.

If your child is being bullied:

  • Never tell your child to ignore it.
  • Don't blame your child or assume your child did something to provoke it.

In all instances, work collaboratively with your child's school to resolve the situation.
