Meet Our Interns
 

Sierra Bienz, PULSE Fellow

Sierra Bienz comes to Pittsburgh by way of Laramie, Wyoming. Sierra received her degree in Linguistics with a minor in Cognitive Science from Swarthmore College. During her time in school, she worked as an intern in the Education Department at the Hudson River Museum, where she researched and curated materials for school curriculum. In her time studying abroad in Chile, she volunteered as a Translation Consultant. As a Translation consultant, Sierra translated educational materials for the Tourism Bureau. She has also served as a camp counselor at Mercersberg Summer Swim Clinic, teaching competitive swimming to children. This experience really cemented her love for education. In her free time, Sierra enjoys playing guitar, taiko drumming, and swimming. Sierra is a part of the East End cohort and serves at Macedonia Family and Community Enrichment Center, Inc..

C'enna Crosby, University of Pittsburgh Community Engagement Assistant

C'enna Crosby is an Education major at the University of Pittsburgh in her junior year. C'enna is from Lansdale, Pennsylvania which is approximately 30 minutes outside of Philadelphia. She received her Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education at Montgomery County Community College. Considering herself to be an advocate for all children is what lead C'enna to choose Education as her field of study. C'enna enjoys working with and inspiring children through volunteering and being a youth leader for kids at her church. She is part of the Youth Empowered to Stand Ministry and Chosen Vessels Dance Ministry. In her free time she enjoys doing nails, being with loved ones, listening to music, and dancing.

Kayla Harris, Duquesne University Community Engagement Scholar

Kayla Harris, a Pittsburgh native, is pursuing her degree at Duquesne University with a double major in Women and Gender Studies and Psychology and a Pre-Medicine minor. While in school, Kayla is a Resident Assistant tending to freshman needs in addition to participating in multiple clubs on campus such as Strong Women Strong Girls, Union of African Students, Best Buddies, Love Your Melon, Black Student Union, Ebony Women and more! In the summer, she was a camp counselor at the Sewickley YMCA for youth who were unable to afford to have a summer camp experience. Working with kids allows her to continue to do what she is passionate about every day and in hopes will lead to her completion of a Masters of Education in the near future. In her free time, Kayla enjoys watching movies, working out, and going on adventures with her friends.

Anjelica Salih, University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work Intern

Anjelica Salih is a Pittsburgh native. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with a minor in Social Work from Clarion University of Pennsylvania. During her undergraduate experience, she completed an internship with a Domestic Violence Shelter where she received her first direct practice certification and developed an interest in the social services field. After graduation, Anjelica took time to be a full time mom before becoming an Allegheny County Caseworker. Anjelica has worked as a CPS investigator, Emergency responder, and as a community engagement caseworker over the last five years. She is currently participating in the CWEL program as a University of Pittsburgh MSW candidate for the graduating class of spring 2020. Anjelica is seeking a Children, Youth and Families certificate within the program. During her first year in the program, she worked alongside of a School Social Worker who fostered her passion to support black and brown families through a combination of social work and education. She is now working as an intern with Macedonia Family and Community Enrichment Center to further develop that passion. In her free time, Anjelica enjoys traveling, sun and spending time with her husband and their son.
